Sheth L. G. General Hospital is situated at Maninagar, Ahmedabad near Kankariya Lake. Shri Chinubhai Lallubhai Mehta, donated generously for the building of the hospital in the loving memory of his father, Shri Lallubhai Gordhandas Mehta. Later on many donors also donated for O.T., Burns Ward, Physiotherapy etc. The hospital is run by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. Foundation of new building was laid down by Shri Narendra Modi the then C.M. of Gujarat on 05/10/2007.
Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation established AMC MET Medical College in the year 2009. Medical College is affiliated to Gujarat University. On 15th September 2022, AMC standing committee approved renaming of AMC MET Medical College to Narendra Modi Medical College. Narendra Modi Medical college is affiliated to the Sheth General L. G. Hospital. The college enrolls 200 students every year for the MBBS course. Sheth L. G. Hospital has 1050 beds and P. G. seats in the non clinical branches were approved in 2014 by the M.C.I. (Now known as NMC) while, P. G. clinical seats were approved in 2016. At present Narendra Modi Medical College has 170 P.G. seats. At present Dr.Dipti M. Shah Madam is the dean of Medical College and Dr.Leena Dabhi Madam is the Superintendent of L. G. Hospital.
Sheth L .G. General Hospital is providing OPD and indoor patient services for all types of patients. All clinical branches with full time specialist doctors are giving their services. For Injecting Drug Users Opioid Substitution Therapy Centre (OST Centre) was established in 2013. About 60-70 patients are taking OST on daily basis at present. Addiction Treatment Facility (ATF) centre is also launched on Dec.2023. This will provide the service to all addicts. Dr. Bhaveshkumar Lakdawala, Prof. & HOD of Psychiatry Department is the Nodal Officer for both centers.
