Changlang District is located in the state of Arunachal Pradesh, located South of Lohit District and North of Tirap district. As of 2011, it is the Second most populous district of Arunachal Pradesh..Changlang district is the Home land of fascinating and interesting tribes such as Tangsa, Singpho,Lisu(Yobin) and Tutsa, and certain pockets are inhabited by Noctes, Deoris and few Adivasi tribes. It has become one of the major districts in the area owing to the presence of crude oil, coal and mineral resources other than tourism and Hydropower. The tribal people of Changlang district have history of opium production and consumption for time immemorial. Its consumption/cultivation were common among the natives and were considered normal during the olden days.Even after the ban on opium cultivation by the government of India,the illicit use of opium in changlang district is still prominent due to the presence of its location within the golden triangle,causing high influx of illegal substances from the Myanmar border. To counter the problem of rampant illicit use of opium and alcohol in the district, Addiction Treatment Facility (ATF), Changlang has been initiated on 15th November 2023, and has been functioning actively on OPD basis since the inception. Located in the heart of Changlang District under District Hospital ,Changlang, it will caters to an estimated Population of 1,48,226 of the District. Addiction treatment facility, district hospital Changlang run under the aegis of National action plan for drug demand reduction (NAPDDR) with support from Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJE), Government of India and are nationally coordinated by NDDTC, Aiims Delhi. The facility aims to provide services for patient using drugs and alcohol and improve functioning within their family. Through this centre, the services provided are: pharmacological treatment, psychosocial intervention-support and counselling services. The medications are provided free of costs to the patients and expenditures are borne by the government of India under the scheme. To curb the usage of the drugs/ alcohol among the natives of district Changlang, and to provide continuity of care to its patients, the ATF Changlang is determined to help its patients in every possible ways. For better insight and provision of comprehensive treatment to its patients, ATF has a dedicated team of mental health professionals that includes- Medical Officer, Counsellor, Nurse and data manager.
