Addiction Treatment Facility (ATF) at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Raebareli is being running since June 2022, as part of the program implemented by the National Drug Dependence Treatment Centre (NDDTC), AIIMS New Delhi under the support and supervision of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. Through this initiative, NDDTC provides drug treatment services for all types of drug users in keeping with the established standards of care and treatment. It has dedicated outpatient services to provide care to patients with substance use problems by trained health professionals (counsellor, nurse, and doctor). Most of the patients also require consultation from other specialists, which is also arranged appropriately. Additionally, the ATF team is involved in various community-based activities to improve awareness. Through this center, treatment services are provided including: • Pharmacological treatment • Psychosocial interventions- support and counselling services The medications are provided free of cost to the public and the expenditures are borne by the Government of India under the scheme. To curb the usage of drugs among the people of Raebareli and neighboring districts and provide continuity of care to its patients, the Department of Psychiatry runs a dedicated de-addiction OPD along with the provision of other IPD and CL Psychiatry services to persons with substance-related problems. At present, an average of 10-15 patients visit the Addiction treatment Facility daily. The majority of the patients are either dependent on alcohol or opioids. There are facilities available for the management of other drugs and substances too. Patients in need of acute management including detox for various substances get admitted to the psychiatry ward where there are separate and dedicated services for drug de-addiction. ATF is adamant to help its patients in every possible way. For better insight and provision of comprehensive treatment to its patients, ATF has a dedicated team of mental health professionals and including Medical Officer, Psychiatrists, Counsellor and Nurse.
