Government Medical College Baramulla is a full-fledged tertiary referral centre located in Kanthbagh area of Baramulla. It was established in the year 2018. The college imparts the degree Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS). Nursing and para-medical courses are also offered. The college is affiliated to University of Kashmir and is approved by National Medical Commission. The hospital associated with the college is the largest hospital in the North Kashmir. It caters to the whole population of North Kashmir and part of Central Kashmir. OPD of the Associated hospital receives nearly 4000 patients on daily basis. The Department of Psychiatry was established in January 2019. Presently the department runs a full fledged OPD services and in addition to IPD facilities for patients with severe psychiatric disorders. In addition to these services, ADDICTION TREATMENT FACILITY implemented by NDDTC AIIMS, New delhi supported by Ministry of social justice and empowerment Government of india ,is fully functional from the month of may 2022 ,facilitating patients of north kashmir especially from Baramulla, Kupwara, Sopore, Tangmarg, Uri, Keran, Rafiabad and other adjoining areas. ATF clinic is first center of such kind which is providing free medication and counselling to the patients involved in different kinds of addictions and drug abuses.
